How Snap Map Effects Society






From the time Snap Map has been around It has changed society in a way, as this new technology has changed the socio technical affordance between individuals.  If you click here, you will come to a Cosmopolitan page that is titled “18 Times Snap Map Ruined Relationships” by Julia Pugachevsky.  This article talks about 18 different times where Snap Map has really just ruined relationships.  It is clear that the relationships have been clearly affected as when they use the new technology of Snap Map, they then communicate to each other based on the technology that they used.  Before Snap Map, without this technology existing there was no way of knowing where one was with the simple use of social media.  From past experiences, I have acted and communicated based off of what I had learned off of Snap Map, hence creating the social technical affordance between myself, Snap Map and my roommate.  This is due to Snap Map giving me misleading information making me believe my roommate was in trouble, yet she was in our living room the entire time.  Overall, due to this new technology it severely affects the way individuals communicate within society.

            The recent Snapchat update has caused outrage amongst its users, rendering the company to lose many of them. The reason being: people do not like change; they want snapchat to be simple because that is the perceived outlook of the application.
